It was August 1997. We were 25 years old. We were getting married in less than 2 months. Sooooo, why not buy a 50 plus year old fixer upper that had been vacant for almost 2 years?? What a GREAT idea! (Sarcasm is one of my best friends, by the way...) Here is the only photo of the bathroom I could find from when we bought the house:
Now, jump in the remodeling time machine and flash forward to February 2007. Yes, that is correct. We lived with this bathroom for almost 10 years. However, within the first year, we did remove the horrible shower doors, paint, replace the toilet & sink, and install glass block in the window. Here is what we truly lived with before we tore it all out:
The fateful day finally came in February of 2007 and Hubby was all too excited to start swinging the sledge hammer:
We switched the tub and toilet locations which was a fun time. 50 year old cast iron plumbing is super fun to work with, don't ya know! We also stole some space from one of the hall closets, installed all new drywall, tub & surround, toilet, sink, lighting, cabinetry, towel drying rack and vinyl. It was a lot of work, but that first bath I took was the most rewarding ever! Here is the finished product:
Hope you are having a great week!
Cheers!
